Why join?

The Manchester Mexican Folk Group believes that nobody in Manchester should have to long for Mexico or be lonely. We celebrate Mexican and Latin American culture through dance and community.

Who can attend classes?

All abilities and genders are welcome.

We have only two restrictions:

- 14-18 year olds must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

- All must participate. We do not allow observers.

What's the effort required?

Two hours per week during the evening. Bring your positive attitude, discipline, consistency, and comfortable clothes for a good aerobic session.

How long until I can dance?

During your first two-hour session we guarantee you'll learn a few dance steps, will feel the rhythm and have the chance to put your moves to practice. Within no time, you are going to feel a part of the community and will have the confidence to dance.

What should I wear to class?

You can wear comfortable, sporting clothing like leggings and trainers.  If you want to regularly attend classes, we recommend that women wear a long, flowing skirt and "tap-dancing" shoes. We recommend that men wear cotton trousers and "tap-dancing" shoes. This is to help authentically practice the choreography, as dancing with your clothes is an essential part of Mexican Folk Dancing.

How long until I can perform?

You can perform as and when you feel ready!

We have only three requirements to be on stage...

1) Confidence.

2) Knowledge of choreography.

3) Your own Traditional Mexican Folk Dance clothing.

You have our full support and attention with all details of each step. Please talk to a group member about sourcing clothing.
